New York, Aug 20 (ANI): A Southern California man has decided to make the life of busy American Christians a little easier by creating a drive-through church.
Shawn Heggi, 35, a truck driver and "self-appointed Christian spiritual counsellor", sits in a blue tent at a busy intersection in Loma Linda, Calif., for a few hours everyday and leads quick prayers for people on the go.
"It's just a dirt field, but to us it's church," the New York Daily News quoted Heggi as saying.
He created his stand with two friends about nine months ago, inspired by a similar set-up he saw in a nearby town.
"We pray daily, we read daily, we're not better than anyone out there," Gary Carrera, one of the co-founders, said.
"I'm just one beggar telling another beggar where the bread is," he stated.
The church's site is tailor-made for people who want a quick and easy way to express their devotion, and on a busy day it gets as many as a dozen visitors.
Miriam Moran, 36, passed his stand for months before she finally decided to stop. When she did pull over, it was to pray for Heggi's ministry.
"When I see these men out here in the sun, it gives me faith in my belief to continue pursuing a deeper relationship with God," she said. (ANI)
