Will punish guilty people: Sonia warns over CWG
On Thursday, Aug 19, addressing the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting, Sonia asked efforts from every citizen to make Commonwealth Games a successful event. Her remarks on CWG scams was a clear warning to IOA chief Suresh Kalmadi, who was allegedly involved in corruption in the preparations of 2010 CWG.
“The Prime Minister is looking into the allegations of corruption related to the CWG events. Those found guilty would be punished after the games are over," said Sonia.
“The Commonwealth Games belong to the whole nation. They are not related to a particular party. It is the collective responsibility of the whole nation to make Games a success. It is a matter of national pride and efforts should be made to host the games successfully," she added.
Congress Parliamentary Party meeting also discussed the issues like the situation in Kashmir, upcoming assembly polls in Bihar and the Nuclear Liability Bill which was tabled in the Parliament on Wednesday, Aug 18.
