Aircraft violates Air Force One airspace
Seattle (US), Aug.18 (ANI): Fighter jets were scrambled to intercept an aircraft that had violated restricted airspace around Air Force One as President Barack Obama visited Seattle on Tuesday.
Politico quoted North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) spokesman John Cornelio as saying that jets were sent from Portland, Oregon, as the president was visiting Seattle after a report that an unidentified aircraft violated the restricted airspace around the president's plane.
However, by the time the jets arrived, the unidentified aircraft had left the restricted zone and the alert was called off.
At the same time the jets were scrambled, two loud noises - apparently sonic booms caused when the jets broke the sound barrier - were felt throughout the Puget Sound area, according to the report. (ANI)
