World's response to Pak deluge "pitiful": UK
London, Aug.17 (ANI): Britain's Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has slammed the international community over its slow response to the devastating floods in Pakistan, terming it as "pitiful".
Clegg said that while Britain has released massive funds for Pakistan, the international community is yet to respond and help the country amidst the catastrophe.
"About close to one quarter of the aid already devoted to Pakistan has come from this country. The response from the international community as a whole, I have to say, has been lamentable. It's been absolutely pitiful," The Daily Times quoted Clegg, as saying.
The United Nations (UN) has stressed that that millions would be needed for relief, rehabilitation of the flood ravaged regions of Pakistan.
According to an estimate about 20 million people have been rendered homeless in one of the worst disasters to hit the country in the last 80 years. (ANI)
