Murder convict escapes from Maha central jail
Balasaheb Pawar, a murder convict undergoing a life sentence for murdering his brother-in-law in 2004, fled from the jail on Monday, Aug 16, night. He managed to escape by cutting the iron grills of his barrack using a hacksaw blade.
Police officials told that he manged to procure a hacksaw blade, pipe and a rope from the jail's industrial unit where he was deployed for work. Ramesh Bagve, Maharashtra Minister of State for Home, announced suspension of four prison guards in connection with the security lapse at the central jail.
