2.6-magnitude quake hits Thane in Maharashtra

New Delhi, Aug 17: A 2.6-magnitude earthquake hit Maharashtra's Thane district early on Tuesday, Aug 17 morning.

Thane, which is located on Salsette Island to the Northeast of Mumbai, experienced the slight intensity quake at around 1:07 am, the New Delhi-based meteorological department said.

According to the official data, the epicenter of the quake was at 19.3 degree North latitude and 73.3 degree east longitude.

No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far.
