Bihar Polls: RJD to project Lalu as CM candidate

Lalu Prasad Yadav
Patna, Aug 16: For the forthcoming Bihar Assembly polls, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has decided to project Lalu Prasad as its chief ministerial candidate. However, Rabri Devi is not in the race this time.

"Party workers and leaders have made up their mind to project Laluji as the chief ministerial candidate after message was out that Rabri Devi is not in the race," the RJD leader said, demanding anonymity.

“The party leaders strongly feel that Lalu should project himself as the chief ministerial candidate to give new twist to political battle ahead," another RJD leader said.

The RJD had ruled Bihar for three terms from 1990 to 2005. When Lalu resigned from the chief minister post due to corruption charges, his wife Rabri Devi took the charge of chief minister till 2005 and becoming the first woman CM of the Bihar.

Currently Lalu Prasad is a member of the Lok Sabha. The State is slated to go to polls in Oct-Nov 2010.
