Srinagar, Aug 15: A police officer hurled shoe at Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while he was hoisting the flag during the Independence Day celebrations on Sunday, Aug 15.

However, the shoe did not hit the Chief Minister and later the officer was taken into custody.

The officer then raised black flags and shouted slogans as he was being bodily carried out by the security in the stands.

Omar Abdullah took the incident lightly and welcomed it saying he would be happy if people instead of pelting stones, threw shoes.

Omar Abdullah joins Home Minister P Chidambaram, Pakistan President Zardari, former US President George W Bush and Chinese premier Wen Jiabao in facing shoe attack.
