Encounter continues in JK over 17-hr

Srinagar, Aug 15: Another encounter, which was started more than 17 hours back, hit Kashmir valley as security forces struggled to control three Lashkar terrorists in Kashmir"s Rajouri district.

Eighteen hours after it started, the encounter is still on between militants and security forces in Rajouri on Saturday, Aug 14.

However, residents have been sent to nearby villages to ensure their safety and security.

According the sources, militants were the same, who had attacked an army military convoy in Thanamandi in Aug2010. Two people were killed and 17 others had been injured in the attack.

Security was put on high alert in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, Aug 14 with mounted vigil on the frontier with Pakistan on the eve of the Independence Day.
