BJP disappointed over Prime Minister's Independence Day speech
New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed dismay at Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's speech on the occasion of the 64th Independence Day on Sunday, and said the speech was a cut and paste job and did not address the major burning issues in the country.
"A nation expects a lot from the Prime Minister's speech on the Red Fort. But, unfortunately it seems it's a cut and paste story again and the speech of the Prime Minister lacks lustre, it is directionless, it is visionless specially in the backdrop when the country is facing severe crisis," said BJP Spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
"Whether it is on the front of Naxalism, whether it is on the price front, whether it is on the international borders, whether it is on the issues within the country. It's a complete dismal display by the Prime Minister, which has left a feeling, a bad taste today in the nation," he added.
Further lashing out at Dr Singh, Rudy said much was expected from the Prime Minister.
"It seems may be there are only two possibilities, the Prime Minister did not receive direct tips from the top that what he should speak or he has lost interest completely in ruling the state, the nation," he added.
Meanwhile, veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani said the world has now understood India's potential.
"Today after 64 years of Independence if we should be happy about something it's the fact the world is understanding the potential of India. This was not there 15-20 years back. We were not in the reckoning till two decades back," said Advani.
"We have a lot of potential and the world is accepting this fact," he added commending the nation's march to progress. (ANI)
