London, Aug 14 (ANI): If you are a lefty, you get to celebrate! Left-handed people have been urged to celebrate their physiology for International Left-Handers' Day.

Barack Obama, David Cameron and others have been urged by the Left-Handers Club to create left-handed zones in their homes and workplaces and organise left-handed games.

"Left-handers everywhere can celebrate their sinistrality and increase public awareness of the advantages and disadvantages," The Telegraph quoted The Left-Handers Club site as saying.

The day was started by a US group in 1976, and people celebrate it by downloading posters, songs and quizzes.

Left-handers often complain of disadvantages of household gadgets such as scissors, tin openers and even fountain pens that are designed for use with the right hand.

Around 13 per cent of the world's population is considered left-handed, although there are wide geographical variations.

In Asia, however, the numbers are a lot lesser, because of culture.

In India, for example, the left hand is taboo for eating, and some in some Muslim countries the hand used to deal with anything dirty. (ANI)
