Ex-President's wife, Janaki Venkataraman dies
The 89 year old former first lady died at Sir Ganga Ram hospital in New Delhi. She was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, Aug 10 following a complaint of chest infection.
Her last rites will take place on Saturday, Aug 14. She is survived by three daughters.
President Pratibha Patil condoled Janaki's death and wrote a letter to her daughter.
"As a first lady of the country she has performed her role with utmost grace and dignity during the tenure of R Venkataraman," said Pratibha Patil in her letter.
