Oracle sues Google over patent infringement
"Google knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle's Java-related intellectual property," claimed Oracle official on Thursday, Aug 12.
Android is fast becoming one of the most widely used operating systems used in smart mobile phones.
Oracle acquired the Java technology, which is used in many types of Internet-based products, when it took over Sun Microsystems in deal agreed in 2009.
A Google spokesman said he could not comment on the lawsuit as the company had not had a chance to review it yet.
Analysts say Google's Android operating system uses portions of Java technology.
