Sensex ends up 39 points; SBI surges

The sensex closed at 18167.03, up 93.13 points and Nifty closed at 5452.10, up 35.65 points.
Top gainers were Cairn India up 4.33 percent, Kotak Mahindra up 3.19 percent, HCL Tech up 2.40 percent, SBI up 2.36 percent.
Top losers were Sterlite Industries down 4.09 percent, Reliance Communication down 2.94 percent, Suzlon Energy down 1.91 percent, Tata Motors down 1.10 percent.

Nifty above 5450; HCL Tech, SBI up
At 1:16 pm, the Nifty and European markets were in green with positive bias.
The Sensex was up 174.85 points or 0.97pc at 18248.75, and the Nifty was up 55.55 points or 1.03pc at 5472.00.
In the largecap space, HCL Tech, SBI, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Unitech and Tata Steel were up 2-2.5pc.
Sterlite Industries, Reliance Communications, Ranbaxy Labs, Mahindra and Mahindra and Tata Motors were down 0.7-3pc.
Top gainers on the BSE Midcap: Patni Computer, Bombay Dyeing, Jet Airways, Info Edge and Indian Bank were up 5-13pc.
Top losers on the BSE Midcap: KGN Industries, Essar Shipping, Edelweiss Capital, Thermax and MVL were down 2-7pc.
Top gainers on the BSE Smallcap: Raymond, Minda Industries, Lok Housing, Aqua Logistics and Nirlon were up 10-20pc.
Top losers on the BSE Smallcap: Ramsarup Industries, Ankur Drugs, REI Six Ten, Talwalkars Fitness and Rico Auto were down 5-14pc.

Markets go on green note; SBI, ITC, lead
At 10:20 am, the benchmark Sensex continued on green note and Bharti SBI, ITC, Tata Steel and ICICI Bank were on the lead in the trade.
Asian markets were quite supportive; Kospi was up 1.2pc and Taiwan up 0.9pc. Shanghai, Nikkei, Jakarta and Straits Times went up 0.25-0.4pc.
The Sensex was at 5444, up 28 points and the Nifty was at 18146, up 73 points. The broader indices were outperforming the benchmarks; the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also gained one percent each.
SBI, Raymond, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, BF Utilities, Raymond and ICICI Bank were the most active shares on exchanges.
About 927 shares advanced while 302 shares declined on NSE.

Nifty opens on +ve note
The benchmark Nifty opened on positive note with above 5400 mark in trade.
Heavyweight were seen in SBI, Tata Steel, Bharti, ICICI Bank and L&T
At 9:01 pm, the Sensex was at 18129, up 55 points and the Nifty was at 5436, up 19 points.
The CNX Midcap rose 44 points to 8654.Gainers were Bharti Airtel, Cairn, Axis Bank, PNB, ICICI Bank and SB.
Midcap & Smallcap space: Apollos Hospital gained 2.2pc post RBI eased ECB rules for hotels, hospitals and software. BF Utilities shot up 6pc, Vijaya Bank was up 1.7pc and Central Bank of India up 3.5pc.
Asian markets were trading mixed; Shanghai and Hang Seng declined 0.4pc each. Nikkei slipped 0.3pc. However, Straits Times, Kospi and Taiwan gained 0.3-0.7pc.
