President Pratibha Patil visits Kerala
Later she left for Kottayam by a Naval helicopter, she will be attending functions at Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram and Alapuzha during her stay in Kerala.
President Pratibha Patil will also address the valedictory function of the birth centenary celebrations of St Alphonsa, the second saint from India to be canonised by Vatican. Alphonsa is also the first Indian woman saint.
The president will also inaugurate the Nehru Trophy boat race at Punnamada lake in Alapuzha before leaving for Delhi from Kochi.
She was accompanied by husband Devi Singh Shekhawat, daughter Jyothi Rathore, son-in-law Jayesh, and granddaughter Vedika.
