Lorry hits Mamata's convoy
Kolkata, Aug 10: A lorry hit a car of Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee's convoy on Monday, Aug 9 evening at Kolaghat Bridge in East Midnapore district when she was returning to the city after her meeting in Maoist-affected Lalgarh.
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the lorry had tried to hit her car. "It was a deliberate attempt to hit my car and cause an accident."
East Midnapore District Magistrate Archana said, "When the convoy was crossing the congested Kolaghat Bridge in East Midnapore district, a lorry coming from the opposite direction seemed to lose control and hit a car of the convoy."
“Everything is under control. The lorry has been seized and its driver arrested," Archana added.
According to the sources the driver of the lorry has been arrested.
The Intelligence Bureau car driver got a minor head injury and was released after treatment at a private hospital.
Investigation has been ordered into the incident.
