Home Ministry to have Bio-metric access control devices
New Delhi, Aug.10 (ANI): In a bid to prevent unauthorised access of computer systems, the Government has plans to install Bio-metric acess control devices in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Tuesday stated: " A proposal is under way for installation of Bio-metric Access Control Devices for the computer systems in the Ministry of Home Affairs to prevent unauthorized access of computer systems. So far no expenditure has been incurred."
"A limited tender for procurement of 100 such devices has been invited on July 5, 2010. The tender was also floated on the Ministry's web site. Technical bids have been received and opened on July 26, 2010," he stated.
It was also informed that a Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) under the chairmanship of a Joint Secretary with three other members has been constituted for its evaluation. ANI)
