Dinakaran sworn in as Chief Justice of Sikkim HC
Gangtok, Aug 9: Controversial Justice PD Dinakaran was on Monday, Aug 9 sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court by Governor Balmiki Prasad Singh at the Ashirwad Bhavan in the Raj Bhavan complex.
The former Karnataka Chief Justice, who is facing threat of impeachment in the Rajya Sabha, is tainted with charges of corruption.
He was transferred to Sikkim after a slew of allegations, including acquisition and possession of agricultural holdings beyond the ceiling limit, were slapped against the 60-year-old.
After consulting Chief Justice of India SH Kapadia, President Pratibha Patil had transferred him to the Himalayan state.
Dinakaran had been directed to assume charge on or before Aug 13.
