China: Villagers fall ill after eating at funeral

Beijing, Aug 9: In China over 80 villagers fell ill after eating at a funeral and later sought medication for stomach ache and diarrhoea on Sauturday, Aug 7.

This incident happened in Guangxi Zhuang region of China when the villagers ate at a dinner, following the funeral of a local man.

However, after medication the sick villagers were all in a stable condition.

"The patients were taken to a clinic in Dongqi township and later transferred to hospitals in Rong'an town for further medical observation," a government spokesperson said.

According to the sources officials from the Disease Control Centre in Rong'an county have arrived to conduct investigation.

No deaths have been reported yet, officials said it was not known how many people ate the dinner, Xinhua reported.
