Sohrabuddin case: CBI takes Amit Shah into custody
Ahmedabad, Aug 7: On receiving a nod from the Gujarat High Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday, Aug 7 took former Gujarat home minister, Amit Shah into custody, in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.
The CBI sleuths arrived at the Sabarmati jail early in the morning with a team of doctors, who conducted a routine medical check up of Shah before he could be taken in for the two-day remand.
On Friday, Aug 6, the HC remanded Shah in two-day CBI custody along with rejecting a plea for videography of his questioning.
While Shah"s lawyers, Mahesh Jethmalani had sought videography of the BJP leader"s interrogation, the CBI argued that it would be a waste of time.
The lawyer's plea seeking a stay on the order to approach a higher court was also rejected.
