Leh cloudbursts: Death toll climbs to 130
Leh, Aug 7: The death toll in Leh cloudbursts has climbed up to 130 even as rescue operations marred by unfavourable weather conditions and heavy rains continue in a slow pace.
"We have recovered 130 bodies so far and at least 370 are injured. The number of missing is yet to be ascertained," State Police Chief Kuldeep Khoda informed.
The toll is expected to rise further as 600 more are feared washed away in the floods that was triggered off due to the heavy downpour on Thursday, Aug 5 night.
A small village before Choglumsur has emerged as the worst-hit region as it has been completely wiped out in the disaster.
