Brit explorer's record-breaking Amazon trek nears completion
London, Aug 7 (ANI): British explorer Ed Stafford is all set to complete his record-breaking Amazon trek.
He will finish the 6,000-mile, 859-day march on Aug 9 (2010) by reaching the Atlantic Ocean.
After being bitten by 50,000 mosquito bites, eating 15 piranhas and chased by Indians with bows and arrows, Stafford is approaching the final leg of his journey towards Atlantic Ocean.
Ed, 34, from Mowsley, Leics - the first person to walk the length of the Amazon - began on 2 April 2008 at its source in Peru and cost him 70,000 pounds.
"The endurance both mental and physical has been the thing that's been the most wearing," The Sun quoted him as saying.
"What I have learned is if you have a dream, and you are passionate about fulfilling it, ignore the people who tell you it is impossible," he added.
Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes said, "Ed's achievement in walking the Amazon is truly extraordinary." (ANI)
