Inflation hits Lucknow's kebab business

Lucknow, Aug 6 (ANI): The kebab business in Lucknow has been badly hit by inflation rates.

According to Mohammad Rizwan, the owner of Tunday Kebabi, a 100-year-old eating joint, the rise in prices of various commodities has affected the prices of kebabs.

"Earlier we used to get material at cheap prices. Even spices were cheap but now with inflation, prices have shot up. Everything is costly now. So we have raised rates of kebabs and paranthas and as a result we get fewer customers now," said Rizwan.

For some dishes, the hike in prices has been more than 100 percent.

"The kebabs were for Rs 1 and paranthas were for Rs 2. But today the paranthas are for Rs 5 and kebabs cost Rs 4. Day to day, the prices are increasing and we are not able to afford it any more. We have quit going out and eating," said Rubeena, a local.
