Kashmir violence rages on, youth killed in firing
Srinagar, Aug 5: The violence in the valley claimed another youngster's life on Wednesday, Aug 4 evening, taking the death toll to 40 since fresh protests erupted last Friday, Jul 30.
A 25-year-old civilian was killed when CRPF personnel opened fire on a demonstration at the Bemina Chowk.
Police and CRPF firing was also reported from Habbakadal where protests were taking place.
Several people were injured in the violence across the state.
Making a statement in the parliament on the situation in Kashmir, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram asked the people to give up protests and repose faith in the elected government.
He also hailed the security forces for showing “commendable restraint in a highly-volatile situation".
