Businessman rapes DU student in car, arrested

New Delhi, Aug 5: A 17-year-old Delhi University student alleged that she was raped by a businessman, who dragged her into his car when she was on her way back from college on Wednesday, Aug 4 evening.

The accused businessman, identified as Mukesh Singhal, has been arrested, the police said on Thursday, Aug 5.

Mukesh allegedly dragged the first year student into his Wagon R car in Moti Nagar in west Delhi before raping her.

"Singhal stopped his car and asked her an address. When she responded, he pulled her inside the car and took her to an isolated place where she was raped," Deputy Commissioner of Police Sharad Agarwal told a news agency.

The man later dumped the victim in front of her college.

"The victim then approached the police and was taken to a hospital, where medical examination has confirmed rape," Agarwal said.

The accused, who is a resident of Ashok Vihar in north Delhi, runs a paper producing factory.
