Markets close with marginal losses
Mumbai, Aug 5: At 4.25 hrs, BSE Sensex was 18172.83 down 44.61 points and NSE Nifty was 5447.10 down 20.75 points.
Oil & gas, private financial, pharma, power, cement, metal and select telecom companies' shares faced losss. SBI, TCS, Tata Motors, HCL Tech, Unitech, Wipro, Bharti, ITC, Maruti, BHEL, PNB, L&T and DLF gained in market.
The top gainers were Unitech up 2.86 percent, HCL Tech up 2.63 precent, TATA Motors up 1.96 percent and SBI up 1.95 percent.
The top losers were Idea Cellular down 5.33 percent, Ambuja Cement down 2.52 percent, GAIL down 2.47 percent and Reliance Infra down 2.06 percent.

Nifty struggles to break 5500 mark; RIL, Idea dip
Indices continued trading quiet. While Nifty struggled to break 5500 mark, Sensex was trading up just over 20 points.
At 2 pm, BSE Sensex was at 18,244.59, up 27.15 points and NSE Nifty was at 5472.50, up 4.65 points.
Among the largecaps, Unitech, HCL Tech, SBI, Tata Motors and Kotak Mahindra were up, while Idea Cellular, GAIL, Ambuja Cements, Reliance Infra and Reliance Communications were on the losing side.
Heavyweight Reliance was down 0.24 per cent, IT major Infosys was up 0.9 per cent, and refinery major HPCL was up 1.74 per cent.
In the midcap space, Essar Shipping, Phoenix Mills, Britannia, UTV Software and Wockhardt were up while Indian Hotels, HMT, Bayer Cropscien, Alfa Laval and Manappuram declined.
Maharashtra Scooters, Andrew Yule, Lok Housing, ITD Cementation and Halonix were the smallcap gainers while Future Capital, Well Pack Paper, Resurgere Mines, Graviss Hospitals and India Securities lost.

Nifty rangebound; IT, FMGC, realty support
Benchmark Nifty is rangebound between 5460 and 5487 and Sensex continued its lacklusture trade.
At 11: 52 am, Sensex was trading at 18262, up 44.5 points and the Nifty was at 5477, up 9.55 points.
The indices were being supported by technology, FMCG, realty, and select metal companies' shares along with SBI, Bharti, Tata Motors, Maruti, L&T and Sun Pharma.
However, the gains were limited due to selling in private financial, cement, power, PSU oil & gas companies' shares along with Idea, Reliance Communications, M&M and Hero Honda.

Mkts open flat with positive bias
The markets opened the day on a flat note but with a positive bias. While technology, capital goods, metal, realty and select auto companies' shares were witnessing buying interest, cement, private financial and FMCG stocks were reeling under pressure.
At 9:01 am, BSE Sensex was trading at 18266, up 49 points and NSE Nifty was at 5479, up 12 points. The CNX Midcap Index rose 30 points to 8550.
The early frontline gainers were Maruti Suzuki, IDFC, L&T, Unitech, Infosys, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries, DLF and Siemens.
