Trouble mounts for Blackberry as Egypt raises cry
Cairo, Aug 4: After India and Kuwait, Egypt has also warned Research In Motion (RIM) that it will not hesitate to ban Blackberry services if it poses a security threat.
Local media quoted the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority as saying, “The producer received all necessary approvals to sell the phones in Egypt, but this will not prevent the devices from being banned should they indeed pose a security threat."
The final decision on any ban will only made after investigation, the reports said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Aug 3, Kuwait had raised concerns over the pornographic websites while India has been seeking the access to Blackberry's encrypted messaged citing security reasons.
The United Arab Emirated (UAE) has also threatened to suspend the Blackberry's messaging and internet browsing services in Oct 2010 as these Blackberry services were “causing judicial, social and national security concerns."
