Sonia pained over upsurge in Kashmir violence
New Delhi, Aug 3: As the violence in the valley continues at a worrying level, the UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi has expressed pain over the upsurge in violence and the lives lost in it.
"My deepest condolences to those who were killed in this mindless violence," she wrote in a letter to Congresspersons in the latest edition of Sandesh, the party mouthpiece.
Acknowledging that there elements who are instigating violence in Kashmir, the Congress chief called for action against these perpetrators.
"I understand there were elements with ulterior motives that were instigating these attacks. These elements must be brought to book and identified," she said.
Gandhi is also of the opinion that the state government's efforts towards development which would lead to creation of jobs and livelihood opportunities is the salve that would put an end to the protests and violence.
