Kalmadi sets up panel to probe corruption in CWG
New Delhi, Aug 2: Suresh Kalmadi, Commonwealth Games organising committee (OC) chairman, set up a three-member panel to investigate allegations of corruption in the preparations of 2010 Commonwealth Games.
The three-member panel will be headed by Jarnail Singh, CEO of the OC. The panel have to submit their report by Aug 5, 2010.
The panel will probe into the organization of the Queen's Baton Relay, marketing contracts awarded by the organising committee and the costs on variety of items from treadmills to ACs.
On Friday, Jul 30, British tax authorities asked the Enforcement Directorate to investigate the money transfer from the Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee to a UK-based company, AM Films UK Ltd.
Kalmadi had rubbished allegations of wrongdoings. He told that A M Films was recommended by the High Commission in London.
