Journalist's murder: Accused mom granted bail

Ranchi, Aug 3: Journalist Nirupama Pathak's mother, who was accused of murder of her daughter, was granted bail on Aug 3 after police failed to file a chargesheet within 90 days from the day of her arrest.

She was arrested on May 3 after her New Delhi-based daughter Nirupama was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her home in Koderma's Chitragupta Nagar on Apr 29.

Nirupama's boyfriend Priyabhanshu Ranjan had accused the family of the killing. Nirupama's family, in turn, charged Ranjan with rape and homicide.

Investigators are yet to find out whether it is a case of homicide or suicide.

The forensic report states Nirupama wrote the suicide note, found after her death.

The forensic report of Nirupama, who happened to be pregnant at that time, did not mention the time of her death. Her viscera and foetus were not preserved.
