2 more killed in Kashmir, death toll rises to 24
Srinagar, Aug 3: Two more persons were killed and five were injured in fresh violences that broke out in Kashmir on Tuesday, Aug 3.
Two people were killed in the clash with the security forces who opened fire in Srinagar and Budgam districts of Kashmir Valley.
With two more deaths in the fresh violence that erupted in Kashmir since Friday, Jul 30 the total death toll has risen to 24, including seven on Monday, Aug 2.
Police identified one of the died persons as Anis Khurshid. He was killed when security forces opened fire to disperse protestors in Eidgah area.
Another stone-pelter, Mehraj Ahmed Lone, was killed when the security forces opened fire to disperse the people who defied the curfew and held demonstrations in the streets.
Curfew remained clamped in all the ten districts of Kashmir as security forces maintained a close vigil to contain disturbances.
The additional forces are being sent following a request from Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to the Centre to help tackle the situation in the Valley, which has been hit by a fresh wave of protests.
