Suresh Kalmadi calls meet of CWG executive board
New Delhi, Aug 2: Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) Chairman Suresh Kalmadi called for an emergency meeting of the Organising Committee's executive board on Thursday, Aug 5.
Suresh Kalmadi called the meeting after receiving Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Secretary General Randhir Singh's letter to conduct an emergency meeting following the media reports of large-scale corruption in the Commonwealth Games preparations.
On Monday, Aug 2 Randhir Singh wrote a letter to Suresh Kalmadi and asked him to conduct the meeting immediately.
"In pursuance to media reports published in a leading daily about financial irregularities alleged in the Queen's Baton Relay at the Buckingham Palace. Since the situation is grave, the discussion should be held immediately," said Randhir in his letter.
On Friday, Jul 30, British tax authorities asked the Enforcement Directorate to investigate the money transfer from the Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee (OC) to a UK-based company, AM Films UK Ltd.
