Cuba to implement major economic changes

Havana, Aug 2: Cuban President Raul Castro told that the government will ease controls on small businesses and allow more self-employment.

In Communist country Cuba, state controls every aspect of the economy. The constitution describes the Communist Party of Cuba as the leading force of society and of the state.

Castro announced the economic changes on Sunday, Aug 1 during the opening of parliament's biannual session. He also announced that the government will cease unnecessary workers.

Different Cuban media reported the President's announcement about economic changes as a move to overcome the financial crisis.
