Osmania Univ. student immolates himself for separate Telangana

Hyderabad, July 31 (ANI): A student committed self- immolation in the Osmania University campus at Hyderabad on Saturday for a separate Telangana state, to be carved out of Andhra Pradesh.

P Eshan Reddy of Medak district was an engineering student. He was pursuing Master of Computer Applications (MCA) from Osmania University.eportedly, he set himself on fire on Friday night near the university library.

Stating the reason for his death in the suicide note, Eshan Reddy mentioned that he has taken an oath on God to offer himself if Telangana wins in the by-polls to the state legislature held recently.

He had urged in the suicide note that his body should not be sent for post mortem.

"In the letter he has written that the leaders of Congress and TDP (Telugu Desam Party) are indulging in shrewd and cunning politics, all these regional leaders should be boycotted by the people from the state," said Krishank, a law student and leader of the Telangana Student Forum, Osmania University.

Meanwhile, Kavitha, daughter of Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Chief has appealed to the students not to resort to such extreme steps.

"All of us who want a separate Telangana are appealing to the students that with the death of the students we cannot achieve our aim of a separate Telangana state. Telangana should be done with a political solution and to strengthen this political solution, all the students will have to work together, said Kavitha. (ANI)
