Cabinet Secy cancels visit to CWG OC office
New Delhi, Jul 31: In the wake of the storm stirred by the allegations of corruption and complaints of porr quality work in projects related to the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010, Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrashekhar cancelled a visit to the Organising Committee (OC) office.
Chandrashekhar, who was expected to visit the OC on Saturday, Jul 31, cancelled it. However, officials maintain that the Cabinet Secretary's move had nothing to do with allegations of corruption against the OC.
“It was a routine visit and the allegations of corruption have got nothing to do with the cancellation. He will come on other day," a OC source is quoted as saying in a news agency report.
While a report of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) brought to light the poor quality of work in connection with the upcoming sports event, a recent media report has revealed that a substantial sum of money was transferred to a little-known UK company from the Games Organising Committee (OC) giving raise to several questions.
