S Korean PM Chung offers resignation
Seoul, Jul 29: South Korean PM Chung Un Chan offered his resignation after failing to get parliamentary approval to revise the planned relocation of ministries to a newly planned administrative town.
Chung Un Chan offered his resignation to President Lee Myung-bak on Thursday, Jul 29. It was not clear whether President would accept Chung"s resignation. But unofficial reports revealed that President will accept Chung"s resignation.
It is not the first time that Chung has offered his resignation to President Lee. Earlier during a meeting on Jul 2010, Chung expressed his strong intention to step down, but Lee asked him to stay in office.
Chung was a former college professor who was appointed to the top Cabinet position in Sep 2009. He has been a leading advocate of the 'Sejong City', a science-hub, project. But his government failed to get parliamentary approval.
