Kerala never asks centre to ban PFI: Chidambaram
New Delhi, Jul 29: Home Minister P Chidambaram told that the Kerala government did not requested the Centre to ban Popular Front of India (PFI).
Suspected activists of the radical Islamic outfit PFI chopped the right hand of Joseph, a Malayalam professor, on Sunday, Jul 4 for preparing a question paper having derogatory references to Prophet Mohammed.
Earlier on Jul 13, the Kerala High Court directed both the central and state governments to give their views on banning the PFI.
On Thursday, Jul 22 Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told that state government would take a decision on banning the PFI after getting a report from the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
