CBI summons officer who headed Sohrabuddin probe

Ahmedabad, Jul 29: After the former DGP of Gujarat PC Pandey, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Geetha Johri, who headed the state CID team that investigated into the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

Ms Johri, who is currently posted as Police Commissioner of Rajkot city, has been asked to appear before the probe agency by Aug 10.

Based on the evidence collected by the investigating officer and her team in the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and killing of his wife Kausarbi three IPS officers, namely DG Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandian and Dinesh MN, were arrested.

However, the Supreme Court was not happy with the team's findings and progress.

While transferring the case to the CBI in Jan 2010, the apex court came down heavily on the the state police"s Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was headed by the then Inspector General of Police Johri.
