Telangana by-polls mark 64 percent of voting
Hyderabad, Jul 28: The by-election in Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh passed peacefully with more than 64 percent of voting.
Chennur constituency marked the highest polling with 74 percent and Siddipet marked the second with 71.1 percent.
Nizamabad Constituency registered higher poll percentage of 51.72 as compared to 39.53 percent in the 2009 general elections.
"The by-polls went off peacefully in 12 Assembly constituencies, though some minor incidents that of altercation has been reported from Sirpur and Chennur Assembly constituencies. No cases have been booked against anybody in this regard," said RR Girish Kumar, Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police.
Counting of votes of the bye-election will take place on Friday, Jul 30.
