New Delhi, Jul 28: India claims the country is a land of diverse cultures, beliefs and races but ironically the coming Commonwealth Games's opening or closing ceremonies have no reference to Islamic influence on Indian history.

Now the Group of Ministers have requested the Games organizers to include a “true" representation of India"s inclusive culture.

According to Indianexpress report, this issue was raised where ministers finalized the ceremonies designed by international consultants under the guidance of filmmaker Shyam Benegal, lyricist Prasoon Joshi and Javed Akhtar.

Ministers said that Islamic influence was a very important aspect of Indian culture and must be showcased at a global platform like the Commonwealth Games.

The Ministers present were Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy, Tourism Minister Kumari Selja and Minister of State (Finance) Namo Narain Meena.

Reports also said that in the opening ceremony will have 5,771 performers and the closing ceremony will be 5,371 performers. And the rehearsal will be done at the Army parade ground.

Rehearsals for the opening ceremony will begin on Aug 1 and from September 12 for the closing ceremony.
