Washington, July 28(ANI): US drones have now launched more than 100 deadly strikes in Pakistan since President Barack Obama came to power.

According to statistics compiled by the New American Foundation, at least 36 people were killed in four strikes at the weekend, taking the total during Obama's 18-month reign to 101.

The latest strikes means the tally under Obama dwarfs the 45 carried out in the preceding five years, The Scotsman reports.

Another report had said that over 700 people have been killed in such attacks under Obama, compared to 200 under his predecessor, George W. Bush.

Meanwhile, Pakistani human rights activists said that they were disappointed that the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize winner had escalated the use of drones.

"If you thought Barack Obama was going to be a different sort of president, he's doing what George Bush was doing - and worse - and it is we Pakistanis who are paying the price," said Zeeshan-ul-Hassan Usmani, who monitors attacks for the Pakistan Body Count website. (ANI)
