Price rise: NDA wants vote, UPA says no
New Delhi, Jul 27: NDA leaders had indicated that they would not allow any of the two Houses of Parliament to function till a discussion and voting on price rise was held on Tuesday, Jul 27.
BJP leader S S Ahluwalia said, ""In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley has given a notice for suspension of Question Hour and discussion on it under Rule 168, which entails voting."
"In the Budget session we had given up our demand for an adjournment motion after three days and agreed to a short duration discussion without voting. But this time we have learnt our lessons and are not going to bend," said a senior BJP leader.
Adequate relief and rehabilitation package for Bhopal gas tragedy victims and their families, "misuse" of CBI by the government and economic blockade at Manipur, are the other issues which figure on the NDA agenda for this Parliament session.
However, the government wants only a short duration discussion on the matter.
So, the Parliament on the second day on Jul 27 is expected to be a stormy session.
