Nifty closes flat but with positive bias

Mumbai, Jul 27:Nifty had closed flat but with a positive bias. RBI's credit policy and global cues were quite supportive in second half of trade on Jul 27.

Central Bank has hiked repo rate by 25 bps to 5.75 percent and reverse repo by 50 bps to 4.5 percent while kept Cash Reserve Ratio unchanged.

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 18,077.61, up 57.56 points or 0.32 percent and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 12 points or 0.22 percent to 5,430.60, after seeing day's high of 5,450.95.

Hero Honda, Mah and Mah, ACC, Tata Motors were among the top gainers with 3.25 percent, 3.12 percent, 2.96 percent, 2.84 percent up respectively.

Larsen, ABB, GAIL, BHEL were among the top losers with 2.93 percent, 2.20 percent, 1.60 percent, 0.88 percent down respectively.

Nifty is trading flat in volatility

The Nifty was trading flat amid volatility. RBI's credit policy was more or less in line with market expectations.

At 12:58 am, the Sensex was up 53.00 points or 0.29% at 18073.05, and the Nifty was up 15.30 points or 0.28% at 5433.90. About 1566 shares advanced, 1398 shares declined, and 378 shares remain unchanged.

Hero Honda, Ambuja Cements, Tata Motors, ACC and Sterlite Industries were among the largecap gainers with 1.5-2.7 percent up.

MVL, Carborundum, Manappuram, Godrej Properties and ING Vysya Bank were among the midcap gainers with 3-7 percent up.

Dolphin Offshore, Shirpur Gold, Honda Siel were among the smallcap gainers with 6-15 percent up.

Nifty reacts positively to RBI's Credit policy

Nifty reacted positively but with mild gains over RBI's Credit policy.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had raised the repo rate by 25 bps to 5.75 percent.

At 11:56 am, the Sensex was trading at 18082, up 62 points and the Nifty was at 5434, up 15 points. The Nifty July future was trading at 9 points premium and August future at 17 points premium.

Oil & gas, technology, auto, cement, banking & financial and metal companies' shares were supporting the markets.

However, selling remained in L&T, NTPC, BHEL, Bharti, GAIL, Jindal Steel, Reliance Power, Axis Bank, Unitech and Reliance Communications.

Nifty begins on a quiet note

Nifty had began on quiet note ahead of Credit Policy and earnings like Reliance Industries, L&T, HUL & Cairn India on Tuesday, Jul 27.

At 9:01 am, the Sensex was trading at 18042, up 22 points and the Nifty was at 5420, up 2 points. About 489 shares advanced while 211 shares declined on NSE.

Hero Honda, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Cipla, Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular were among the frontliners, who were watching buying interest.

L&T, NTPC, ICICI Bank and GAIL, however, were losers in trade.

Asian markets were mixed in trade. Shanghai and Taiwan fell 0.3 percent each.
