By Mamatha

Sanaa, Jul 27: Suspected Al Qaeda militants opened fire at the British embassy in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on Monday, Jul 26, and fled the spot immediately.

According to the police, the gunmen fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the main gate of the British embassy from a vehicle and sped off on the main street in front of the embassy.

"Back-up security forces were immediately rushed to the scene to help protect the British embassy staff," Xinhua quoted the official as saying.

However, officials declined to comment on whether there was any casualty or not.

On Sunday, Jul 25, six Yemeni soldiers guarding an Austrian oil company were killed when a group of suspected Al Qaeda gunmen attempted to raid the company in Shabwa.
