TN: Pastor held on charges of rape, cheating

Chennai, Jul 26: On complaints of sexual exploitation and cheating from two women, a pastor of Faith Assembly at Ayanavaram here was arrested on Sunday, Jul 25.

Police informed on Monday, Jul 26 that the 53-year-old pastor, Father Selvaraj, was arrested after two women associated with the church slapped serious allegations, including rape, against him.

The pastor was allegedly involved in a relationship with one of the women, a volunteer, from whom he borrowed Rs 3.5 lakh and gold jewels.

He also took Rs 63,000 and some jewels from the other woman, police said.

Selvaraj did not return the money he borrowed from these women despite their repeated demands prompting them to go to the police.

The pastor has been charged under different sections of IPC including cheating and harassment.
