TN govt orders to shut down Foxconn India's plant
Chennai, Jul 26: Foxconn India's plant in Tamil Nadu has been shut down after a gas leak. The Tamil Nadu government has ordered the closure of the plant till all safety aspects are checked and cleared by authorities concerned.
On Friday, Jul 23, 37 workers of the Sunguvarchatram plant were admitted in a hospital after they fell ill inhaling an unknown toxic gas.
Mobile phone accessory maker, Foxconn India, part of $1.74 billion the Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology Group, is the third largest industrial employer in Tamil Nadu with around 7,000 workers, after Hyundai Motor India and Nokia India.
The management has reported that the pesticide sprayed in the air condition ducts affected the workers.
