Taliban claim responsibility for killing Pak politician's son
Peshawar, July 26(ANI): The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the killing of Pakistani politician Iftikhar Hussain's only son in Nowshera.
TTP's deputy spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan claimed responsibility for the murder.
He said six men had been sent to kill the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister's son Rashid Hussain and they had returned safely to their hideout, The Dawn reports.
According to reports, two motorcyclists opened fire on Rashid, while he was out for a walk with a cousin.
Rashid died on the spot, while his cousin Amjad was seriously injured in the attack.
The 30-year-old was working as an assistant director with the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA).
He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Pabbi amid tight security.
Meanwhile, investigations into the murder are reported to have made little progress.
"We will issue the sketch of one of the attackers on the basis of description given by the injured person," Nowshera Police chief Nisar Tanoli said.
Tanoli also said that security personnel had been deployed at the minister's home, as he had been receiving death threats from militants for his outspoken opposition to terrorism, but Rashid had refused to take the guards when he went out. (ANI)
