SC asks govt to show rule that bars women in army
New Delhi, Jul 26: The Supreme Court asked the defence ministry to produce the Army Act notification that makes women ineligible for permanent commission in the regular army.
On Monday, Jul 26 the apex court bench Justice JM Panchal and Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra told that the Section 12 of the Army Act, 1950 was in breach of Article 14 of the constitution. Then Additional Solicitor General Parag Tripathi claimed that the provision was protected by Article 33 of the constitution.
Then the bench asked the Additional Solicitor General to produce notification under Section 12 of the Army Act.
