Gujarat ex-DSP M.K. Amin turns approver against Amit Shah

Gandhinagar, July 26 (ANI): Former Gujarat Deputy Superintendent of Police, M.K. Amin, has turned approver against former state Home Minister Amit Shah in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

Amin is one of the three main accused IPS officers in the encounter case who have been arrested for their direct involvement in the case. The other two are IPS officers D.G. Vanzara, and R.K. Pandian.

Amin has submitted an application in this regard through his lawyer in a Gandhinagar court.

The move may help the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to solve the case.

"I have made (put up) an application before the court. Thereafter, I will disclose everything," said Jagdish Raman, Amin's lawyers.

The CBI's strategy on Sunday not to ask for Shah's custody baffled the minister's legal advisers, even as he was sent to 14-days judicial custody.

According to sources, the CBI was waiting to first find a police officer willing to turn approver in the case, and then sought Shah's custody.

On Friday, a CBI court in Gandhinagar rejected Shah's anticipatory bail plea that he had filed through his lawyer to avoid arrest in connection with the fake encounter case.

The CBI has filed a 30,000-page charge sheet against Shah, accusing him of complicity in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausar Bi were killed in an alleged fake encounter in 2005. (ANI)
