Govt had no role to play in Amit Shah's arrest: PM
New Delhi, Jul 26: Seeking to clear the air ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh denied the scathing accusation thrown against the government that it was misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
As Gujarat Home Minister, Amit Shah's name was dragged into the 2005 Sohrabuddin encounter case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the government of misusing CBI to corner the BJP leader.
Stressing that the probe was being supervised by the Supreme Court of India, the Prime Minister said that the Centre had not influenced the investigation in anyway.
"Central government has no hand in it," Dr Singh told reporters here on Monday, Jul 26.
He also called for peaceful proceedings of the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Parliament.
